GROASIS WATERBOXX

STUDENT COLLABORATION ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT MARKETING
2015

Goal: To find an existing product and develop a marketing plan that is both profitable and sustainable.

Area of Focus: We mainly focused on United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15, which aims to “protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.” Malaysia’s agriculture sector is one of their top industries (e.g. including palm oil production and logging) with land desertification and soil erosion sustainability issues. This creates an opportunity to introduce to Malaysia activities and methods that can combat desertification and loss of biodiversity and promote achieving Goal 15.

Solution: We introduce Groasis Waterboxx which is a less intensive and a sustainable farming method. Groasis Waterboxx is an instrument that collects rain, produces artificial water condensation, and distributes water in small quantities throughout the day without using drip irrigation or electricity. Compared to drip irrigation, this product uses 90% less water, subsequently saving water and electricity costs for farmers.
